Community Development
Like Economic Development, Community Development can mean different things to different people. For our purposes, you can generally think of it as local infrastructure like roads, water and sewer systems, city halls, libraries, community centers, etc.
Our primary effort in the area of community development is with the Texas Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Funded through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), this program is administered at the state level by the Texas Department of Rural Affairs (TDRA). TCOG’s Community Development staff supports the Regional Review Committee – which is appointed by the Governor – as they determine how the CDBG funds will be awarded in the Texoma region.
